Passport photo maker: the right size, framed by you

This tool crops and resizes a photo to the exact pixel size an ID document asks for, in your browser, with no upload. Pick the preset for your document and download a JPG at that size, center-cropped from your photo. An optional print sheet places copies on a 4×6 inch page for home printing.

Read the scope before you start, because it matters on this page more than anywhere else on this site. This tool sets the size and framing of your photo, and nothing more. Whether the photo is accepted is decided by the office that issued your application, under its own rules.

How to make a passport size photo

    1. Drop a clear, recent photo into the box above. A plain light wall behind you and even light on your face give the best starting point.
    2. Pick the preset that matches your document and application route, not just your country.
    3. Check the framing before you convert: the crop comes from the center, so start from a photo where your head sits centered, with your shoulders in view and space above your hair.
    4. Download the JPG at the preset pixel size.
    5. Tick the print sheet option if you want copies laid out on a 4×6 inch page for printing at home or at a shop.

The presets, labeled by document for a reason

The presets cover the sizes that come up most. US passport and visa photos are 600 by 600 pixels. UK and Schengen photos are 35 by 45 mm, which is 413 by 531 pixels at print resolution. India passport photos are also 35 by 45 mm, while India e-Visa and OCI photos use the 2×2 inch square. Canada asks for 50 by 70 mm, 591 by 827 pixels. China asks for 33 by 48 mm, 390 by 567 pixels. Pakistan passport photos are 35 by 45 mm.

Notice why each preset names a document and a route, not only a country. One country can ask for two different sizes on two different applications, as India does with its passport book and its e-Visa. Portals also change their forms over time. Check the official portal for your exact application before you submit, and treat the preset here as a starting size, not as the final word. If the portal also sets a file size cap, the compress image to 100KB tool can bring the JPG under it after sizing. More photo utilities live in the image tools collection.

What this tool cannot do for you

An ID photo is judged on far more than its pixel size. The reviewing office looks at the background, the lighting, shadows on your face, your expression, your clothing and how recent the photo is. This tool changes none of those things. It does not replace your background, smooth skin, fix shadows or adjust your expression, and that restraint is deliberate.

There is a hard reason for it. United States guidance tells applicants not to submit photos that have been altered by software, and a replaced background counts as an alteration that can get the photo rejected. Other authorities apply similar rules. A photo taken honestly against a plain light wall, with no filter and no editing beyond size and framing, is the safest file you can submit. Take the picture in daylight facing a window, keep your face straight to the camera, and let this tool handle only the dimensions.

Your photo stays on your device

An ID photo is one of the most personal files a person owns, so this tool is built to never see it. The crop, the resize and the print sheet all run in this browser tab. Your photo is never uploaded, never stored on a server and never seen by anyone at ToolPeko. Close the tab and it is gone.

    FAQs

What size is a US passport photo?

600 by 600 pixels for a digital file, which prints as 2 by 2 inches. The US passport and visa presets here both use that size. Your head should sit centered in the frame with your shoulders visible.

Can I use a selfie taken on my phone?

You can use a phone photo as the starting file, and most people do. Have someone else take it if you can, at arm’s length or propped up, facing a plain light wall in even daylight. Avoid the front camera close-up look, which distorts the face.

Does this tool change or fix my background?

No. It sets size and framing only. Background replacement is a digital alteration, and US guidance warns that altered photos can be rejected. Photograph yourself against a plain light wall instead.

What is the 4×6 print sheet?

It is a single 4×6 inch page image with your sized photo placed in copies across it, ready to print at home or at a photo counter and cut apart. It saves paying for a fresh set of prints for each copy.

How do I know the size is right for my application?

Check the official portal or form for your exact document and route, and compare its stated size with the preset name before you download. Specs differ between routes in the same country and can change, so the portal is the source to trust.

Is my photo uploaded or stored?

No. Everything runs in your browser on your own device. Nothing is sent, stored or seen by anyone, and there is no sign-up.
